His horse "Smokey" calls him Apple Jack. They have had a relationship for five years. Jack is a one-in-a-million kid who lives with "undiagnosed leukodystrophy". This means there is no prognosis or diagnosis for his condition. All that is known is that it involves his nervous system. His medical records are known world wide in the hopes that some doctor or scientist somewhere, someday may come up with an answer. Jack was very shy and reserved when he started to ride. But, he was willing to overcome anything to get on Smokey. Today, Jack laughs, smiles, and interacts with his riding team. His self-confidence and self-esteem are flourishing. He is much more out going. Horse therapy is helping Jack to maintain balance control and walking motion skills, thus avoiding otherwise needed surgery. Horse therapy also insures that Jack is not isolated socially and provides social interaction with a peer group.
