Understanding Codependency
Codependency can quietly shape your relationships—without you even realising it. You may be constantly putting others’ needs before your own, struggling to say no, or feeling responsible for someone else’s happiness.

At Heads Up Therapy, we help people in Windsor and across Berkshire understand these patterns and begin to reconnect with their own needs, confidence, and identity.
Codependency isn’t about blame—it’s about awareness.
When you understand what’s really going on, you can make different choices and reclaim your sense of self.
Signs You Might Be Experiencing Codependency
-
Feeling emotionally drained by your partner, family, or friends
-
Constantly people-pleasing or avoiding conflict
-
Difficulty saying no, even when it harms your own wellbeing
-
Feeling responsible for fixing or rescuing others
-
Losing sight of your own needs, goals, or identity
-
Staying in unhealthy or one-sided relationships out of guilt or fear
-
Feeling anxious or empty when you’re not needed by someone else
By breaking unhealthy patterns and strengthening your sense of self, we help you build more honest, respectful and balanced relationships—with yourself and with others.
How Therapy Can Help
Codependent patterns often come from past experiences, early relationships, or trauma. In therapy, we’ll explore how those experiences have shaped your beliefs and behaviours—and how you can start to set healthier boundaries moving forward.

With support, you can:

-
Build emotional independence
-
Develop stronger self-worth
-
Let go of guilt around saying “no”
-
Navigate relationships with more clarity and control
-
Reconnect with your goals, needs, and identity
-
Avoid falling back into the same cycles
We don’t just talk about what’s wrong—we give you tools to change it.
“For years I felt like I had to be everything to everyone. With Chris’s support, I’ve learned to put myself first without guilt.”
